ETHIOPIA - We love Africa!

vrijdag 24 mei 2019

Two weeks ago Inovet welcomed many sub-Saharan African partners for its workshop “Together Africa 2020” in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
During this 3-day inspiring workshop, we highlighted some well-established products as well as new ones, we discovered the full potential of the cattle range, the meaning of high quality veterinary medicines compared to API’s (raw materials), and we looked into the incredible potential of Africa.

Three essentials to treat 90 % of bacterial diseases

No Inovet workshop is complete without talking about our three essentials: Doxyveto-50 S, Amoxyveto-50 S and Coliveto-4800. It is well known that 90 % of all bacterial diseases in poultry and pigs can be treated with these 3 water soluble medicines.

A love story to win a war

The importance of the three essentials is beyond question. On the other hand, we also wanted to introduce our partners some unique products. These products already proved their importance in industrial livestock farming, but they are still relatively unknown in Africa. Especially the introduction of the sniper and the ground troops, better known as Biamuline and Pneumobiotique, was well appreciated. Furthermore, we talked about the love story of the thick one and the thin one, also known as L-spec 100 S. This water soluble powder combination of lincomycin and spectinomycin has a synergistic mode of action on different levels, making it a unique product to treat different severe and complicated bacterial infections.

If you go cheap, you get diseases

Cheap and quality do not match. What does it take to develop and produce a highly qualitative medicine? Together with our partners we have gone through this entire process, touching all quality aspects. Many people do not realize that there may be huge differences in the quality of the raw materials used in a veterinary medicine. Therefore, everything starts with the selection of the highest quality raw materials, which have to be conform to the latest European Pharmacopeia. Secondly, during the entire production process everything needs to be documented to guarantee an efficient and continuous quality control mechanism. Lastly, but equally important, is the formulation of medicines which determines the quality, safety and efficacy of a medicine.

Ready for a profound transformation

It is expected that by 2050, Africa will undergo a profound transformation. The African population will triple in the upcoming 30 years. Living standards, purchase power and life expectancy will further increase, giving an enormous boost to the professional intensive livestock industry. Inovet is committed to help farmers and veterinarians to grab this vast opportunity and to transform from small backyard farmers into integration industry leaders.

Guts and sweat

Reaching the top takes a lot of guts, perseverance and sweat! We at Inovet, we want to reach this top, together with our African partners, and for our last day, we took this literally. We left the capital behind us and we went back to nature. All together we climbed a mountain in the Menagesha suba national park to reach the Garaw Medhanealem Monastery on top. This symbolic teambuilding activity, at an altitude of 3000 meters with limited oxygen, was extremely challenging. Nevertheless, rewarding when we reached the top together! It showed us that reaching the top is possible for each of us by working together, severe endurance and hard work.

Tired but satisfied and determined, we enjoyed a well-deserved traditional Ethiopian dinner. It was the perfect ending for our workshop with live music & performances, special honey wine, and delicious food. We were all in a good mood, the vibe was just great !
